Norma "Mickey" Depland Burmah

Norma "Mickey" Depland Burmah, Mount Airy, Louisiana's oldest living daughter died on September 6, 2014. She was 101 years old, born on July 4, 1913. Following a brief period of infirmity, Norma Depland left quietly to go home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family.

She was the firstborn of eight siblings born to the late Louis and Leona Nelson Depland. She was the wife of 103 year old, Norman Burmah; mother of Joyce Burmah Desselle and the late Doris "Kitty" Burmah McKinley-Shanklin. Mickey and Norman were married on January 27, 1931. They have twice been celebrated as the oldest living couple in the State of Louisiana. Hubert Depland, Sr., 90, is her sole living sibling. She has one son-in-law, Howard Desselle, Jr., two grandsons, Howard III and Trent, four granddaughters, Melody, Joy, Glenda and Gladys, a number of loving great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, 445 W. Bon Tempt Street, Marksville, LA. A mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marksville. Interment will be at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2 following the mass. A Christian wake service will be held at 9:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville in honor of Mrs. Norma Burmah.
