I knew Norma as a City Commissioner when my father, Robert J. LaFortune, was Mayor of Tulsa. They had a remarkable connection as leaders in Tulsa. Their admiration for each other was mutually touching. I loved stitching with Norma at Tulsa's shop, Stitches, and listening to her stories of historical figures and events she participated in as a Tulsan. Social justice, racial civility, and advancement of human life. Norma wove stories of her beautiful family as skillfully as she stitched her...

I knew Norma through a group called Play Readers. She was always cordial and brought out the best in others. I know I always felt better after a conversation with Norma. She was a terrific role model for the women in Tulsa, and indeed, of our state. Rest in Peace, Norma. You've earned it.
