Norma Jean Land Norma Jean Land, age 74, passed away at her daughter's home, on October 28, 2011, after an extended illness. She will be deeply missed. She touched many lives within her life time.

She retired from the Department of the U.S. Army with many awards for her 30 years of service. She was also very active in the Triangle Baptist Church for many years. She lived most of her adult life in Dumfries, Va. She moved back to her hometown where she was born, and eventually moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi. She was involved in many philanthropic activities, through her sorority Chapter 3893 Beta Tau. Her favorite activity was raising money for Saint Jude's Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Fox and her husband, Robert, of Olive Branch, Miss. and her son, Todd Land and his wife, Julie, of Cocoa, Fla. She is survived by three wonderful grandchildren, she loved dearly, Paul Van Gorder and his wife Lisa and a great granddaughter, Piper, all of Virginia Beach and Kyle and Zachary Land of Oviedo, Fla. There will be a small graveside memorial service for family and friends at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park, 1838 Highway Eleven North, Sweetwater, TN 37874.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4205 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 216, Nashville, TN 37215 or Unity Hospice Care, 3085 Fountain Side Drive, Suite 110, Germantown, TN 38138.

She will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten.

I remember to good times Jean and I had over the years in Dumfries. Just living down the street from her. We were Beta Tau Sisters and she was a dear friend for over 30 years. I will truly miss her and the talks we use to have. Love and Prayers to the Family of Jean Land. What a great lady!
