When an "anniversary" arrives, such as Norman's passing, it is nice for the family to know that there are those of us who still remember Norman with gratitude. I never had Norman as a professor of sculpture (though in retrospect I wish I had), but I took two printmaking courses from him and appreciated what I learned. One time he saw one of my drawings (that he did not know was mine) and said that it looked like the kind of drawing a SCULPTOR would make. That surprised me, since I had...

Norman Annis was the professor at Gettysburg College who encouraged me to go to graduate school in art. Without his suggestion, the desire to do so would never have happened. As a result, I earned my M.F.A. at The Pennsylvania State University and taught art at the college level for 30 years, first as an adjunct instructor and later as an adjunct assistant professor. I am most grateful for his encouragement and for the insightful feedback he gave me about my work.
