Norman O. Cardelli, 86, of Lac du Flambeau passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Lakeshore Assisted Living in Lac du Flambeau.
Norman was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 4, 1935 to Amerigo O. and Lenore H. (Mancuso) Cardelli. He was raised in Chicago and was a high school graduate in 1953. In his early twenties, Norman started his own construction company naming it Cardelli Construction. The construction company designed and built many homes and businesses in the Algonquin area. Norm continued to build well into his late sixties. Norman married Marilyn Wolff in Chicago, Illinois. They raised their family in Algonquin and moved to the Minocqua area twenty years ago.
While living in Algonquin, Norm was a member of the Lions Club where he served as a past President and Tail Twister. He along with some other Algonquin residents were the founders of the Algonquin Ambulance Service.
Throughout his life, Norman had an adventurous spirit. This led to getting in a car and driving to different places, seeing different sites, hunting in South Dakota, experiencing new foods, dining in various restaurants and enjoying life! When Marilyn passed away Norm took up cooking becoming an accomplished cook.
He will be remembered as the ultimate husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
He will be dearly missed by his loving children; Linda Thornton of Belize, Central America, Russell (Mary) Cardelli of Algonquin, Illinois, Susan (Gary) McDonnell of Algonquin, Illinois, Steven Cardelli of Minocqua, Sharon Cardelli of Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin, Craigg (Denene) Cardelli of Palm Coast, Florida, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother; Gilbert (Barbara) Cardelli of Fruitland, Florida, sister-in-law; Melia Cardelli of Illinois and a special friend; Marilyn Westberg of Minocqua. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Marilyn Cardelli in 2012, son and daughter-in-law; Glenn (Kathy) Cardelli and a brother; Ronald Cardelli.
A Celebration of Life for Norman will take place at a later date.
