Norman DeWeerd

My first memories of Uncle Norm go back to the early 1960´s. I would see him at Grandma DeWeerd´s house when we visited or on holidays. He was always busy either hunting, fishing, spending time with his dogs or working his farm. I was a bit scared of him! When I was around 12 years old I started working on his farms during the summer time. We would drive out and back from Hudsonville to Clarksville each day, sometimes with very little conversation, just "morning" when he picked me up, and...

Norm was helpful to us as we sold pumpkins and corn stalks many years ago. We would sell his deer carrots, too, so had a lot of business from him. Two of our sons worked in the celery fields as they were too young for other jobs. We appreciated Norm's work ethic passed down to young people. We enjoyed knowing Norm as a fine Christian man with a quiet manner, and committed to the Lord and his family.
