Not sure what to say?

I followed Norm and at a very young age in 1966 I started playing hockey. I played in 67 on up to 19yrs old in PAHA. I was on "A" league teams as a crucial defenseman. I was in Portland Buckaroo hockey every summer in the 2 week camp at Silverskate. In 2016 I bumped into Norm at the memorial Coliseum during a winterhawk game. He autographed my Winterhawk hat. I ended up playing on an all checslovovya team in Stockton Calif and then on an organized team in LA. I moved to Seattle and...

I watched Norm and all the Bucks back in the '60's and '70's. I caught the hockey bug immediately after seeing my first game with my Cub Scout pack after qualifying our fund raiser. (Selling light bulbs!) I was on the ice at Lloyd Center rink the very first Saturday after that game, falling down and weak ankled in rented figure skates. I learned the game, came to love it the rest of my life. It was a pleasure to watch Norm. He brought a lot of joy to this kid. He played the game the...

Was a great fan of yours and all the Buckeroo's back in the day. Truly enjoyed having you as a neighbor for the past 10 plus years. Jack and Dorothy.

Doreen, Shane, Kella and Jay my sadness is overwhelming for your loss. Norm was such an awesome guy! I will always remember how his laugh could make even a grumpy person laugh with him. As a teenager hockey became my life...(not because I loved the game but I was always driving Colin to practice and games) I always enjoyed seeing you and Norm at games. As I got older , there were many times that Serene and I stopped by your house to visit and always enjoyed seeing you guys so much. I don't...

My Team

My heart is saddened by the news that another Buckaroo has left us. Norm is part of one of the greatest legacy's in professional hockey. He will always be remembered by me as a great player and a huge part of the Buckaroo franchise. I'm very glad to have the memories. Thanks Norm for all the fun you gave me and the pride I carry with me forever.

You inspired a whole generation of Buckaroo fans, young and old. Not only a great team and a legendary franchise, but a bunch of outstanding men representing the city of Portland.

Thanks for the entertainment, the inspiration, and a Lester Patrick Cub along the way.

As a Buckaroo and Winterhawk fan, I enjoyed watching the guys 'light the lamp' at the Memorial Coliseum. I flew to San Diego to watch the Bucks play the Gulls in a playoff game. I was stunned and excited as a couple of guys sat next to me. It was Norm and Andy Hebenton!! I told them I was going to the game and it was also my first airplane ride. We talked for a few minutes then they said they always take a nap during the flight. I've told the story of sitting next to Andy and Norm, my...
