Obituaries

Norman J. Lane, 94, died peacefully Saturday afternoon in Holyoke Medical Center. Norman was born and raised in Palmer and has lived in South Hadley for the past 66 years. He owned Rite-A-Way Trucking Company and later worked for the Sewage Department for the Town of South Hadley. Norman served with the 11th Special Division of the Seabees with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a past commander of the South Hadley American Legion #260 and VFW Post 3104 and member of the D.A.V. He leaves his wife of 66 years Mary (Bacis) Lane; a daughter Rose Lane, a daughter-in-law Cheryl Lane; three grandchildren Jeff Lane Jr., Justin Lane, and Brandon Blanchard. Sadly, Norman was predeceased by two sons, Jeff “Greek” Lane, John Lane and a grandson Shawn Camyre. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Patrick’s Church at 10:00am on Thursday for the Liturgy followed by burial in St. Rose Cemetery.
