I was a newly minted Ensign, USNR, when I showed up at COMNAVSPECWARGRULANT for duty, much to the chagrin of my CO, Capt Symons, and my XO CDR Norman Olson, since I was filling a billet normally reserved for UDT/SEAL. Needless to say, I got off to a bad start before I arrived, and I soon learned why my XO was referred to as "Storming Norman."
