Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home - Hampton Obituary

The Lord called Bro. Norman T. Overton home from labor to rest on Monday, September 26, 2022. He was born on November 16, 1952, in Newport News, VA. Norman was the son of Tommy Overton Sr., of Michigan and Audrey White (Deceased) of NC. He graduated from Hampton High School.

Norman, affectionately known as "Turk" to friends and family, was a US Marine Corps Veteran, skilled tradesman, and well-known HVAC technician. He started his career as a maintenance technician, honing his skills working for Harrison & Lear. He branched into the world of HVAC earning numerous certifications through Thomas Nelson and New Horizons. He performed HVAC services at Fort Eustis and Fort Monroe (retired) as a civil servant for the Department of Defense. He was a jack of all trades; from brick masonry to plumbing to electrical work. He could do  it all! He was a member of the American Legion in Hampton, VA as well as a International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He became a member of Sweet Haven Holy Church of God, where he donated his time assisting multiple churches in the community with HVAC services. He eventually started his own company, Ovee's Heating & Air, offering his services repairing heat and air for countless others across Hampton Roads.

He leaves to cherish and honor his memory, his loving wife Phyllis Overton along with his children, who were his pride and joy; Rondell Pugh, Thomas Overton, Gimika Overton, Joseph Overton, Nicholas Farrior, LaKisha Overton(Keith), Tasha George, Paul Farrior, Stephanie Farrior (Deceased), Jessenia Corcino, Javiana Corcino, David Farrior, and Tatyana Farrior. He was also a proud grandfather to 24 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a loving brother to 5 siblings; Tommy "Junn" Overton Jr. (Deceased), Scerene Giles, Audrey C. Overton, Cecil Overton, and Faye Anderson Jennings. He held a special bond with his brother William "Bill" Lawrence (Deceased) (Jean), niece Amy and nephew Paul who also loved him dearly. He also leaves behind a host of family members and friends.

His life reflects "God First, Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit". His favorite message in scripture was Psalm 23.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Mr. Norman will be missed.

To Kisha and family:
Our family sends their love and praying that you all will gain strength even on your weakest days. When you light a candle let that be the comfort you will need to keep you warm as you reflect on the good times and chuckle at the silly moments.

God will continue to guide you, you are not alone.

My sincere condolences to the family. Turk was always so kind to me. Praying for each of you to have peace and comfort during this most difficult time. Find comfort in knowing he is now resting in the arms of the Lord.

To Phyllis and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We know you will miss Turk but he has left so many precious memories. May these memories and the Love of Jesus comfort you. Cousin Malinda
