Norman Keith Perttula

We traveled to many wonderful Architectural places together (Cranbrook, Falling Water) and had dinner and many great conversations that will always be cherished. It’s sad those times are gone, but nice that they will always live in memory. Fortunately I had the chance to go out to see Norm and Helen last year and to attend Helen’s service. During his distinguished career at Dalton, Dalton, Little & Newport plus URS, Norm was a valued friend and esteemed colleague to many, including the late J. Sherman Thomas. Norm's fine character and professionalism motivated others and enhanced our built environment.

It was a real pleasure serving with Norm on the City of Cleveland Design Review Committee, which I did for 6 years during Mayor Mike White's terms of office. Norm brought his tremendous design talent to the committee, but made his suggestions and comments in a very calm, reflective way. I always looked forward to seeing him and discussing architectural matters. He was a genuine, kind person, who did not wear his accomplishments on his sleeve.
