Not sure what to say?

To the family....I have so many fond memories of your dad. I remember Norm had a bowl Dentyne gum in the upstairs of the house on Ainsworth. Norm would tell Billy and I we could go upstairs an get a stick of gum when we came for a visit. I still love the smell of Dentyne and the memory comes back instantly. I remember Norm or one of the Schroeder boys making a woven leather piece that was placed in the high branches of a tree in the backyard and Norm would help Billy and I climb up the...

To Norm's "kids": Thank you for making
sure that I found out about Norm's service and thank you for letting me be
a small part of your time or "remembering". Norm was a very special work partner, and it is special
to remember the times when your dad and
I would ramble off to work, knowing his
primary concern in life was his family.
It was very special to meet all of you
again, and to share a few precious moments. Phil Carrier

Hello Richard, Denise, Oliver and Henry,
I wish I could find your address so I could send you a personal note. Denise, you know you were a very special student to me at HR. I remember taking you home one night after school and your dad was so thankful...I think maybe the distance was about 5 blocks. For some reason, I remember him meeting us at the door. You were quite the young lady and I loved having you in my class. You were smart, witty and quick thinking...I loved your...

What great memories of times with the Schroeder and extended families.
Times at the house on Ainsworth are memorable. Norm had some of our kids help him install new back door steps and to this day they believe you would not have been able to get in and out of the house without their help.
I loved being a part of the Schroeder "activity" center.
Easter Egg hunts at Chris' first home with the Schroeder & Painter kids all taking part.
Time with Patty helping me with...

Mr. Schroeder was my 8th grade teacher at Woodlawn School in 1962-63. I still remember him after all these years. I learned my lesson that year--he gave me 5 Ns for poor behavior on my first report card. That was a big deal back then. Now I can admit the Ns were well-deserved. My dad(who was also a teacher) hit the roof and the 2 of them had about a 2 hour conference about what to do with me. Boy, did I shape up after that! I never did go back to thank him for giving me those 5 Ns, but I...

I only met Papa S. once, a few months ago when I came up to visit my friend Becky. She is new to the neighborhood but he'd already introduced himself and she was happy to introduce me to him. He struck me as the kind of guy you wanted to spend time talking to, very warm and funny. Our conversation only lasted a few minutes but he made a big impression. I'm guessing there are many others who feel the same way! I wish I could have known him better. Sending thoughts for peace, comfort and...

Norm was my High School Counselor. I have pictures of him in our High School Senior Outing at Washington Park and in the Columbia River Gorge. While I do not recall why, He is always strong in my memory, when others have been long forgotten. He will be missed sorely. Charles East, WAHI Grad of '77.

It's always a shock when a person we love
and have respected leaves this life. In the years I taught with Norman at Woodlawn School, and in our summer work
experiences, I came to know this man,
and to enjoy his philosophy of life. He
will be greatly missed by his hundreds
of friends and especially by his family.
So long, old friend. I'll look for you
along the way. Phil Carrier
