Not sure what to say?

Red was a warm-hearted student at Wake Forest. I too played in The Southerners. Those were good days and Red helped make it so.

I have never met "Red" but had the pleasure of hearing about him through a chance meeting with his daughter. I was deeply touched by how she spoke of him so elequantly and with such amazing love and respect. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting "Red" through the Docent Program at The MIM. He was very knowledgeable, funny and had so many wonderful stories to share about his life journeys and travels. He even taught me how to play the Washtub Bass! My heart goes out to his Wife and Family. He will definitely be missed but not forgotten. Respectfully, "Little Red", MIM Docent

Red was one of the finest people I have ever met and had the pleasure to work with. To have worked with Red was a true honor. He reminded all of us of the importance of humor in the pursuit of excellence. He is deeply missed.

A while back, Red called me. We had a grand conversation about the Pope families from Dunn,N.C. and all its kith and kin. Over the years I have been able to put some things together, geneology wise. Red sent me a lot of information and pictures of he and his family. I am indebted to him for his generosity. To Linda and the family, I send my condolences. There was no doubt in my mind he cared deeply about those around him.

Red was a captivating personality whose engaging ways and wonderful sense of humor made him a delight to be around. I always looked forward to seeing him at jazz events that he loved attending. His experience in publishing and speaking were generously shared. He left an indelible mark on those whose lives he touched.

Dear Linda and family:

Our wishes are with you and the family. Red was a man of which the world needed more.

Respectfully,

Russell and Kaye Temple and family

Red's sense of wit, humor & personality drew people in like a magnet from all walks of life.
Although he's gone to God's country, he will never be forgotten by all who loved him.
Stay strong as a family & he will hear you sing his praises.

God Bless -

Red and I had some wonderful times together with The Southerners dance band at WFU. We lost touch with each other for many years but renewed our friendship (via Email) several years ago. It was a renewal I will always cherish. He will be missed.

(aka Don Brook in Red's book about the band)
