I was Dr. Cobb´s 1st Certified Dental Assistant that was hired when he opened his practice in Greensboro. He was in his last year of Ortho School, and I was finishing my DA training the same year! As most, No one forgets Dr. Cobb! I was honored to work with him. My husband and I would later run into to him at meetings where my husband, Dr Mark E. Hixson is also an Orthodontist. So many memories. Regards to Carolyn.

Carolyn and Tripp,
It was with a heavy heart that I read that watt had died. He was always a bigger than life person ever since I meet him at the Dental School in 1968. He stayed that way. He and I had numerous conversations about organized dentistry and the future of dentistry.
I will miss him.

I am so sorry to hear this news! I was Dr. Cobb's 6th patient when he started his practice and I remember him fondly . It was always a pleasure to "run" into each other around town and take a few minutes to catch up! He always asked if I still wore my retainer!!

Dr. Cobb was my orthodontist back in 1977/78. I remember him as a very nice man. My deepest condolences to his family.

Dear Carolyn, Tripp, and Erin,
We surround you with our love and prayers following the recent loss of your husband and father. When we first arrived in Greensboro in 1977, your family made us feel most welcome, especially while visiting every evening upon leaving our offices at 604 Pasteur Drive. I feel most honored to have helped Watt and his parents with their endodontic needs over the years. Watt served as a role model to us with his compassionate patient care; leadership with SAO, AAO, and the profession of dentistry; and unconditional love of his family.
With heartfelt sympathy, John and Frankie Olmsted

As a young kid I have memories of Watt riding on the back of his Dad´s truck along with Brothers Steve & Eric while preforming various farming tasks moving from field to field. Also, stopping by my Dad´s country store for a cold soft drink, snack & quick break.
Recall watching Watt play basketball for McLeansville H.S. and in the Guilford County Championship Game at Greensboro Senior H.S.(now Grimsley).
It must have been difficult maneuvering those huge hands & fingers into his patients mouth, as with our young Daughter, while performing his medical tasks.
We salute Doctor Watt Cobb for his military service as well as the positive impact he made on the lives of others.
Our deepest sympathy to Watt´s Family during this sad time.

I am VW's sister, the last of Voigt/Mozelle Cobb's children.
Watt and my husband attended Elon Collage at the same time. Watt put braces on our youngest daughter, she still had then on when she got engaged, had been seeing him all along. She went to see him and told him she "wasn't getting married with braces on", he told her her teeth had been "just about there" for a couple of years he just wanted them perfect. She is a red head-too much Cobb in her, but she loved to spar with Watt about anything. She went ton NC State. Sorry I can't attend the memorial, but health reasons won't permit my being there. God's Peace to all of you.

I have fond memories of working with Dr.Cobb. He taught me a lot and made me laugh daily. I still dont know how he got those huge hands in childrens mouths, but he gave them wonderful smiles :-) I know he will be missed terribly.

It seems only yesterday that we were neighbors in Green Valley. So sorry for your loss.
