Not sure what to say?

The first time I met Oddlaug, I absolutely fell in love with her. My mother (Truly) and Oddlaug are first cousins. My Moms father and Oddlaug's mother are siblings. My mother married a Hawaiian gentleman so I grew up in Hawaii and always heard of her but never met her till I was 14 years of age. My mother had not seen her for many years and only kept in contact through the typical holiday greeting card. My mom wanted to introduce me to her and we went to visit. Her heart and hospitality...

I will always remember Oddlaug. Always hospitable and generous to a fault. We spent numerous times together decorating her Christmas tree so her home would be ready for family gatherings. It became a tradition. So much fun at Leif Erikson Lodge events with her around. A true Norwegian and skillful with the knitting needle. I'll miss you, Terry Taylor

My favorite memory was once I asked Oddlaug if she could help me with a song my grandmother sang when I was about 3. I began the song and she sang it with me and then all of the other verses I didn't know. It was like having my own grandmother back. It was a special gift she gave me.

Aunt Oddlaug was a beautiful, smart woman who extended her warm hospitality to my family and me many times through the years. I will miss her terribly.
