Mr. Odell D. Hall, age 96, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Hall was born in Lafayette, Georgia on July 5, 1920, son of the late Hobart Hall and the late Julia Morris Hall Dempsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn Wright Hall, four brothers and a sister. Mr. Hall was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II. Prior to retirement, he worked for a number of years for Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital. Mr. Hall was an ordained Baptist minister and pastored several churches in the Rome area. He was a mason and a shriner and loved going to Bojangles every morning.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Brookshire, Rome; two granddaughters, Debbie Norton and her husband, Phil, Silver Creek, and Theresa Swanson, Rome; five great grandchildren, Misty Wood and her husband, Tracy, Matthew Norton and his wife, Stephanie, Daniel Norton, Courtney Swanson and her fiancé, Lee Winterboer, and Bryce Swanson; four great-great grandchildren, Hanna Wood, Hayden Wood, Maddie Norton and Cooper Winterboer; his former wife and mother of his daughter, Evelyn Hall Whelchel; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. Michael Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 12 noon until the service time. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday at 1:30pm and include: Phil Norton, Matthew Norton, Daniel Norton, Tracy Wood, Lee Winterboer and Landon Clark.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
