Not sure what to say?

Mr. Allen was my teacher at First Ward. He used to hit us fly balls with a softball, whoever caught one got a dime. That would buy candy back then. We were poor and it was so exciting to catch a fly.

RIP Oliver. POW at Mukden, China. Was on the Tottori Maru Hellship. He was with the 7th Material Squadron, 19th Bomb Group. Returned home on the USS Simon Bolivar on 10/21/1945 after liberation. You're in good Company!

So sorry to hear of Red's passing. My wife and I were on an extended anniversary trip and a friend gave me the update today. Of all the men from the 7th I've had the opportunity to meet and speak with, Red was the most consistent in detail and a demand for accuracy. We shared a desire to record the accomplishments of the 7th Materiel Squadron. Trained as mechanics, drivers, painters and welders, this unit was the last to leave the line during the first Battle of Bataan, delaying the...

What a hero! He not only survived WW II as a hero, but he lived a Godly life. He modeled being a husband, father, teacher, administrator, and much more! I am honored to call him family.

My sincere condolences as you go through this time of loss and sorrow. May the God of tender mercies grant you peace and hope. Psalm 145:18, 19

I am so hurt to read that Oliver Allen has died. He was my 7th grade teacher at Fourth Ward School in Paris, Texas. We students were told many times of his war stories. When I was doing morning anchoring for a News/Talk station in Richmond, I had Oliver on via phone several times talking about the Bataan Death March. Each time the emails poured in honoring him and his service.
To Mildred, his wife, and his family, my personal condolences and may Oliver rest in peace.

Mr. Allen was one of my favorite teachers at First Ward Elementary in Paris, TX. He was great with the boys. I never had any money to buy candy and he would hit pop up flies to the boys and give a dime when you caught one. We fought like crazy to catch to flies.

Last time I got to hear Mr. Allen talk about his life.
