OLIVER (Ollie) BURRELL JR., son of the late Lillie & Oliver Burrell, was born on February 15, 1924 in Wedgeworth, Alabama. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
Oliver was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and all around family man. He was known throughout the family as Bubba or Uncle Bubba. He spent many days cooking fish or wild game after enjoying hunting and fishing trips with special family members and friends. As the oldest son in the Burrell family, Oliver considered it a must to attend as many family reunions as he could. He has traveled to Alabama, of course, Florida, Savannah, Duquesne (PA), Virginia and even cruised the Caribbean aboard the Carnival Fascination.
Ollie spent many years working at various jobs. He worked at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital and Community National Bank. He worked maintenance at the bank and later he was the chauffeur for the bank president. His last drive with Mr. Chapin was to take him to California. That may have been what triggered the travel bug. During the down time, Oliver and Rose often hosted parties in their basement. Everyone who attended listened to some Blues while playing cards, checkers or dominoes. You may have even been allowed to drink some of daddy's special "tea".
Oliver leaves behind his devoted wife of 45 years, Roziner Burrell, two daughters Dorothy (Doris) Clemons and G. Ann (Ms. Leggs) Dotson of Pontiac, Michigan; sons Sammy (Othella) Burrell and Oliver Tyrone Burrell of Pontiac, Michigan; also, one sister Lillie M. (Clifford) Lewis of Pontiac; one brother Clarence (Brenda) Burrell of Alabama. He was preceded in death by three sisters Tempie Charles, Annis Terry and Mary Little. He will also be missed by in-laws Mary Louise Johnson and Sam Crisp, Jr.
That's a no-no and Daddy's other lessons will forever be remembered by his children's children which include Lesley (Mark) Wardlow, Michael S. Moore II, Stefany (Michael) Moy'e-Calmes, Lillian Burrell, Rolonda Burrell, JaQuezze Hoover-Burrell, JaMonta Hoover-Burrell and Oliver T. Burrell Jr.; His great grandchildren Michael (Maresha) S. Moore III, Shavonne N. Moore of W. Virginia, Marley J. Wardlow, Marquesas A. Roberts, Nylahn Hoover-Burrell, NHa'la Hoover-Burrell, JaShayla Hoover Burrell, JaMiah Hoover-Burrell, Jastovian Burrell and Loyalty Burrell; three great great-grandchildren Mikayla Shavonne Moore, Michael S. Moore IV and Moriah Jai' Moore and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Services for Mr. Burrell will be held on Tuesday July 31, 2012 from the Chapel of COBB'S Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road Pontiac, MI 48341 at 11:00am, he will lie in repose at the Funeral Home Monday 12 Noon to 8:00pm the family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00am on Tuesday
