JACKSON, Mr. Ollie Leon, Jr. "O.J.," of Richmond, departed this life February 23, 2013. He is survived by one daughter, Toni Jackson Hamlin; two sons, Frizell Barbour and Jamel Manning; four grandchildren, Jayla and Ginger Barbour, Parker Hamlin and Melana Manning; one sister, Velva Brown; one brother, James Edward Shaw Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Santana Manning; one son-in-law, Ancell Hamlin; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Shaw; one brother-in-law, Francis Brown; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Trinity Baptist Church, 2811 Fendall Avenue, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. A. Lincoln James (pastor). Rev. Kenneth Barbour, eulogy. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Online condolences can be made at www.jenkinsjr.com.

I have no words to express the way this took me by total surprise, I knew OJ, from back in the day, he was such a good friend to me, it really broke my heart to hear about his passing, but trust and believe God do not make mistakes, God only request the best of the best to join his Army of Angels, and I know you have golden wings OJ. RIP my longtime friend until we meet again.

Papa, I love and miss you dearly. I saw you the day before you died and just wish I would've took advantage of it, but of course no one would have guessed this. You were a healthy, caring grandfather and always made me smile. Rest in peace and I know you're watching over me. Love, your granddaughter.
