Not sure what to say?

I met Olof almost 40 years ago when I married his brother Kurt. Over the years we shared some fun times together. The Highland Scottish Games at Stone Mountain where he was always dressed so handsomely in his great kilt and bonnet. The Civil War reenacting events where he taught me to do the box step waltz at a ball. Target shooting was fun and I got to watch him show his skills in a competitive shooting event and he was awesome. He also taught me how to shoot a bow and arrow. He helped...

Well, it's taken a while for me to get up to writing this. My brother's passing has left an unfillable hole in my mind; I still think of my brothers when family matters come to mind. Being five years older than I, Olof and I moved in different worlds when I was growing up, but he was still a big part of my life, whether riding herd on my older brother, Kurt and I, in the house or having my back if I got into a bad situation outside. As we came to connect as adults, my fondest memories are...

Olof and I met at a Dutch-American officers' party on June 3, 1972, when Marian, whom I had met several months earlier, introduced me to him and her younger sister, who later become my bride. Olof and I had much in common he was a couple of years ahead of me in our short military careers, but we both graduated from Field Artillery Officer Candidate School, were both posted to Germany, had the same job (separated by a few years) on the same Dutch Air Force base. We could understand and...

When I think of Olof, I smile. Without a doubt, he was the most intelligent person I ever met but he never made me feel inadequate or insecure. I love how patient he was. I always got a kick out of his many hobbies and how he completely emerged himself in those. He was never done educating himself. Such an interesting man.

I will miss his laugh and his beautiful warm eyes. Love you, dear brother-in-law.

I was born an only child, But if I had a brother I could only hope that he would have been like Olof.

He was a true friend and he will be deeply missed. We shared many of the same hobbies and interest but our friendship was far more than all of those things added together.

He was a true renaissance man in an era that does not fully appreciate these qualities. And all that knew him as a part of their lives can only see the world as less bright with his loss.

Singing a cappella in my kitchen
Introducing me to music I had never heard (Hello, Yma Sumac!)
Red Top
The drive to NYC and Carnegie Hall
His devotion to all of their cats
The Highland Games
These are just a few of my memories with Olof and Marian.
But most of all, his face- his smile and eyes when he was so full of stories and delight and passion for whatever he was enjoying at the moment.
Farewell, my friend. You and Marian changed the course of my life, brought...
