My grandmother was indeed, as Randy indicated, the real deal! She was one of the most steadfast, adventurous, forward thinking individuals I have ever known. Being part of her clan is an honor and a blessing and she will undeniably be missed by many.

This woman was a hero to me. She gave me an amazing place to paint at a rent I could afford. She remained a friend long after I left Santa Cruz. When I came out to her as a gay man, she was completely accepting. Her long and interesting life was full of generosity. She made a real difference in my life by giving a young artist a place to begin.To her family, I`m sorry for your loss but happy you had such a life of integrity to help guide you. She was the real deal.

Olus was wonderful and incredible. I lived in Chimayo and knew her from my friend Randall who lived in her Cuarteles house on the hill. She was a real hoot with a loud laugh that was great! So sorry for your loss but boy, seems like she was great into her 90's. I wouldn't expect less from her.
