Not sure what to say?

We first met Onie through his lovely wife Mary...he is a man who deserves to be Honored! Our prayers are with Mary & Family.

To the entire Cooper family - I am sorry for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, and brother. I went to middle school and high school with Dana and Denay Cooper and always heard such wonderful things about their father. So blessed is your family that you had such a wonderful teacher, friend, husband, father, and mentor as the Head of your family! Much love and prayers to you all!

May the dear Lord bless you for all that you have accomplished; your legacy is a memorable one to last forever. May your family know that we have an angel looking over us. Peace to you,Onie!

Romo Family (Carlos & Nancy)

Our families have been intertwined for more than fifty years and words cannot express the love gratitude my family has for the contributions and legacy Reverend Cooper has made, not just to this community, but to the world.

Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

My condolences to the family of Onie Cooper. We have lost a great leader of Civil Rights he had much love and compassion for the people. May his actions and work he did for the community never be forgotten. He strived for his work to carry on with the younger generations. May he rest in peace. With Many Good Blessings, Jan Gardipe

I first met Mr. Cooper back in the mid-Seventies when I worked for Mr. Eddie Scott at the Race Relations Center. I will always remember him as being a gracious, charming gentleman. He was a strong advocate of equal opportunity and he also had a fine sense of humor. I last saw him a couple of years ago at a community event and met his lovely wife. To me, he was still the same "Onie" as I remembered so long ago. God Bless Him and his Family. He will be missed.

My condolensces to the Cooper Family. I currently live in Washington State but grew up in Reno where I attended school with the Cooper Children and was blessed to have attended Church with Reverend Cooper and the Cooper Family. I am extremely saddened by the news of Reverend Coopers passing but am honored to have been a witness to his passion and dedication to justice for all. To the loved ones left behind; allow yourselves time to mourn but remember to revel in the greatness of his...

He was my father, my teacher, my greatest supporter and the best man any son could ever think of asking for. I will miss his voice of wisdom and true calm through every storm. I Love You Dad, and I'm glad I was able to tell you every time we spoke. "Give me flowers while I yet live". It will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Your son,

I'll never forget the sound of Rev. Onie Cooper's voice, with that deep southern accent rooted in his Louisiana upbringing. He used that voice tirelessly in demanding greater justice for people of color and the poor. I was blessed to hear Rev. Cooper speak out on many occasions over the past couple decades. Rev. Cooper was a hard working leader in fighting against racial injustice in our town. From efforts to establish a police review board, to solidarity actions with the Jena Six,...
