Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Obituary

Oscar P. Ceniceros, age 81 passed away unexpectedly in Midland, TX on Friday April 4, 2025. He was born on June 27, 1943, in Marfa, TX to the late Luis and Maria Ceniceros. Oscar was raised and educated in Marfa, TX. His elementary years he attended Marfa Blackwell School from 1949-1957 and Marfa High School from 1958-1963 where he initially received his diploma in 1963. Oscar entered the army on April 24, 1964. Upon discharge he lived and cared for his parents in Midland TX, until his father’s passing in November 1979 and his mother’s passing in July 1993. Oscar worked as a courier delivering office supplies. Oscar never married and never had children.

Oscar was a wonderful brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was a very kind and loving man who was always willing to help his family and friends with yard work. He was very observant when it came to our vehicles, whether we had a flat tire, a leak underneath the vehicle or our windshield was expired or about to be. Oscar and his sister Elena were each other's partners in crime and argued as if they were husband and wife, lol. Oscar would take his sister to her Dr appts, and she would go with him to his. Their absolute favorite go-to spots were Whataburger for hamburgers and coffee, McDonalds for the McChicken sandwich and coffee and Walmart and HEB for their grocery shopping.

Oscar lived a while with his sister and her family during some health struggles. One day he decided it was time for him to move back to his house. We begged him to stay because we wanted to care for him, but he was much too independent. His response was, he had too many things to do at his house. He visited his sister and family daily to attend birthday parties, family barbecues or to simply sit and watch old tv shows on tv with his sister in her room. One thing we will never forget is when he would walk into our home, his favorite phrase was “Boo Hoo”.

Oscar was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church until his health started declining and he could no longer attend. His love for God continued and never stopped praying with his rosary in hand.

Oscar is survived by his older sister Elena (Nellie) Silva, his older brother Luis (Yolanda) Ceniceros and numerous nieces and nephews, aunt, uncle and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother Saul Ceniceros, his nephew John Ceniceros and his great grandnephew Ivan M. Torres.

The viewing will take place at Pipkin Funeral Home on Thursday from 1-9 p.m. with a Rosary service from 7-8 on the same day. Funeral services will take place Friday in Marfa, TX at 1 p.m. at St Mary’s Catholic Church. A burial will follow at Cementerio De La Merced to be buried alongside his mom and dad.

Not sure what to say?

Rest in Peace Uncle Oscar. I will always be grateful to you for always being there for Dad. You often did the yardwork, took his many gallons jugs to be filled with water, and just hung around and kept him and Mother company. You were always concerned for everyone. You will remain in my heart forever. Jacqui ❤
