OSCAR......SUCH CLASS...SUCH STYLE...SUCH INSPIRATION...SUCH SOPHISTICATION...SUCH SWAGGER...SUCH HANDSOMENESS........PRAYERS and BLESSINGS

John 11:33 says: "When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come with her weeping and groaning, he groaned within himself and became troubled." Jesus expressed tears when his friend Lazarus died, he knows how it feels to lose a dead loved one and he understands what you and your family are experiencing. May this bring you and your family comfort in this time of need. cjp (fla.)

Rest in peace.

There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.

Thank you for bringing the beauty of your soul into fashion
and transforming us with your exquisite vision.

When Oscar hears God's voice when he calls him out of his memorial tomb to a paradise earth, he will return to the vigor of his youth and be healthy.
Oscar will use his talents to make clothing once again.

To the Family of Oscar de La Renta,

We may mourn your loss of your beloved for his contributions to our fashion but not for the love your family shared together. I send my compassion to the family and offer you comfort in God's promise to hear the cries of those in pain. Do pray to him for peace of mind. Psalms 55:4-6

May God who knows your sorrow bring peace, comfort, and healing. And in God‘s Word may the family find the inner peace in knowing God cares and Mr. Oscar De La renta is not forgotten, as Our Creator is readily found in times of distress. Psalm 46:1.

In April 2014, we were honored to award him with the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence in recognition of his profound influence on business and philanthropy at an evening we will never forget. Oscar graciously co-chaired Carnegie Hall's historic restoration in 1986, which helped support our newly-restored concert halls. As Chair of several memorable Opening Night Galas and other major special events, he brought a heightened elegance, glamour, and sense of refinement, qualities that were reflected in all aspects of his life. The Trustees and staff of The Metropolitan Museum of Art mourn with great sadness the passing of Oscar de la Renta, who for more than 40 years was a steadfastly committed advocate and friend of this institution. Oscar believed in the Met as a place that brings joy and enlightenment to the people of New York and the world. His generous advice in many areas of the Museum was always intelligent, heartfelt, and candid. At The Costume Institute, the area he was most passionate about, he fostered countless collaborative relationships that benefited our exhibitions and activities greatly. Over the years, he championed the annual gala, along with other legendary figures including Diana Vreeland, Jane Engelhard, Eleanor Lambert, Pat Buckley, Bill Blass, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and in recent years Anna Wintour. After he and Annette, a Trustee since 1981, married in 1989, the dedication they both demonstrated to the Museum flourished even more. Today, the Met's costume collection includes 72 of Oscar's creations, a tribute to his iconic stature as a designer. We remember him with affection as a wonderful colleague, mentor, and inspiration.
