Not sure what to say?

Wow! This is a shock. He died still young. I was talking to a friend about him and his books today. I searched to get the correct spelling of his last name and discovered he had passed on. My deepest sympathies to his wife and family. Oscar and I worked for the same company in the 80's. I enjoyed his wit and sense of humor.

Lori,
So very sorry for your loss. I met you in Albuquerque writers conference in May of 2007.
Oscar Hijuelos work has been a source of inspiration and encouragement for me
and many writers.

I knew Oscar back in the eighties, great guy great writer. Great loss.

Reading an Oscar hijuelos novel was always an awaited experience to treasure, and a memory to cherish. What a legacy you have left us. Rest in peace.

To the family of Mr. Oscar Hijuelos, so sorry hear about the loss of your loved one, may the God of comfort you during this difficult time.

Bronx Community College may have lost a 'star' but has and will always remember Oscar Hijuelos as one of our own. Even though we all live and exist in different social, ethnic, religuos and geographic communities, it is how we build and establish our collective relationships that make us a 'true' community. This is Oscar's legacy for not only bronx Community College but the world.

Dear Lori - My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. May your love for Oscar help to comfort you. My sincere condolences, Martha Walmsley
