I was sorry to hear of Dr. Mitchell's passing. He was truly a brilliant and wonderful instructor who cared about the progress of the students in the Speech Pathology Dept. at Southern University. His contributions to the profession will continue to bear fruit in the lives of his students.

Our condolences to the family of Dr. Mitchell. Although we have not had the privilege of meeting him, we have seen his influence through his son Oscar. Based on what Oscar has shared and the way that we have seen Oscar live his life, Dr. Mitchell lived a great life and he leaves a strong legacy.

My sympathy to the family of Dr. Mitchell. I was very sorry to hear about his passing. He was a man admired by all who knew him and those who had the honor of being taught by him. I had that honor and always appreciated his guidance. May God bless his family with peace at this time and keep Dr. Mitchell close to His heart.

Dr. Mitchell was one of the cornerstones of the Special Education Department at Southern University. I will remember him as a man of quite spirit, few words, and a wonderful soft sense of humor. He, as other icons before him has answered the call of the almighty, and we all are blessed to have known him.
May each that morns his passing find peace, and comfort in our memories of Dr. Mitchell. As a student of Speech Path, he too helped to guide me, and I am a better person for having...

I would hear, "He truly wants to see all of us succeed." - "Dr. Mitchell is fair; he sees more in us than we see in ourselves." - "He answers your questions and he takes a few extra minutes to make...

My deepest sympathy to all the family left behind by a truly inspirational man. Dr. Oscar Mitchell, Jr. will be dearly missed. He was loving and caring as well as a popular college professor. I met Dr. Mitchell in the 70's when I transferred to the Southern University-Baton Rouge Campus. I appreciated Dr. Mitchell's ability to push us (his students) toward excellence with his scholarly wisdom, his mystical smile, and an occasional joke. He gave so much of himself to so many during his...
