Oscar will be greatly missed by faculty, students and staff at Oregon State University. Although I did not work closely with him, I admired his spirit and kindness.

I had the honor of getting to know Oscar in 2002 when I started working at OSU in University House and Dining Services. I worked directly with Oscar and about a dozen interns from CAMP that lived and worked with me in housing. Oscar was SUCH an incredibly generous, fun loving, and patient human being. He was by far on of the best people I have met in my lifetime. Although I left OSU many years ago, Oscar was one of these people who's memory comes to the surface every know and then and it...

Oscar's passing is shocking given that he was so full of life. He organized a project to bring students of MEChA chapters from throughout the State together to get hands-on assistance to complete financial aid applications. He was always worked in a spirit of generosity and love, and with a sense of humor that made us all feel apart of his community. He will be remembered as a gentleman and a scholar.

I am so saddened by Oscar's passing. I met Oscar when he participated in my Faculty Staff Fitness Dance aerobics class for several years, probably 16-20 years ago. He loved to dance and brought great spirit to the class. Even after I stopped teaching it and his calendar got too busy to continue, whenever I saw him it was a warm and welcoming greeting. We have been so blessed as a community to share Oscar's light. Heartfelt sympathy to his family.
