NAPIER, Oscar Taylor, died peacefully on October 18, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Napier was born on November 18, 1917 in Williamson, West Virginia, the son of the late Charles and Ella Maynard Napier. Mr. Napier was a graduate of Marshall University and attended Medical College of Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II, served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Administrative Corps and followed General Patton after the Normandy invasion. In 1942, Mr. Napier married Ellen Mayo Harrison of Richmond. After the war, he started a grocery business, McGuire Park Foods, and later, the Super Mart at Stratford Hills Shopping Center. In 1956, he began a long career in the residential real estate business and in 1958 formed Napier and Savage, Inc. with his friend, Bernard Savage. In 1976, along with his two sons, he formed Napier and Company which has become Napier Realtors, ERA. Mr. Napier served as a member of both the local and state Board of Realtors and was honored with the Realtor Emeritus Certificate in 2003. A highly respected businessman, he lived the Realtor Pledge every day. He was honorable in all his dealings, treated people fairly and found good in everyone. He will be remembered for his hard work, integrity, determination and selflessness. Mr. Napier enjoyed boating, golfing and playing cards with his buddies at Willow Oaks Country Club. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and role model to his children. A thoughtful and gentle man with a positive outlook, he always had a twinkle in his eye, lived life to the fullest and showed kindness to others. Mr. Napier is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Ellen Napier; and his brother, Harold Napier. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Allison (Jim); sons, Rich Napier (Judy) and Jim Napier (Kathy); grandchildren, David Page, Brian, Kristen and Megan Napier; and great-grandchildren, Caroline, Ella and Sarah Michele Page; sister-in-law, Ruth Miles; brother-in-law, Clarence Price; nephew, Oscar Ray Napier; and many loving nieces. The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Mature Options, especially Betty Miller and Valorie Varnado, for their care of Mr. Napier over the past years. A visitation will be held at Bliley's - Central at 3801 Augusta Ave., on Wednesday, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the funeral service will be held at Bliley's on Thursday at 2 p.m., followed by the entombment at Hollywood Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to VCU Massey Cancer Center at P.O. Box 980214, Richmond, Va. 23298-0214.

I did not know Oscar, but heard alot about him. I do however know Jim, and know what a kind and thoughful person he is. I can just imagine that he gets that from his Dad. My prayers go out to the family, may God wrap his arms around you and comfort you during this time.
