Oscar O. "The Wink" Valente, 61, resident of Douglas, was born in Douglas on June 1, 1957 and passed away in Phoenix on June 19, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

Oscar was a member of the Noblemen's Club in 1976 and 1977. He got his nickname "The Wink" for his ability in being quick, fast, swift; using his agility skills to use in Basketball, Football, Baseball and in Track and Field as a Douglas Bulldog. His short statue never interfered Oscar in being the best in all sports. To include having the record for the most stolen bases 31-31, as his record still stands up to this date.
Oscar was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March.
Services for Oscar will be on July 14th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 10:30. Mass will be after Rosary at 11:00, with burial of ashes immediately following at the Douglas Calvary Cemetery.
