Otha Roberts, Jr. was born in Ennis, Texas on October 10, 1944, to Otha Roberts, Sr. and Florene Martin Roberts. He fell asleep in death on Friday, June 7. He was 74 years of age. Otha was the eldest of five children. His family relocated to Lovelock, Nevada during his youth, where he attended Pershing County High School. He received an athletic scholarship to play football at Idaho State University.
Otha’s life took on real meaning during his early 20s. After studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lynwood, California, he dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized his dedication by water baptism in March 1969. Otha’s love for Jehovah deepened as he studied the Scriptures. He cherished all of Jehovah God’s promises. Otha’s love for Jehovah and for people moved him to share with others what he had learned from the Bible. He loved the door-to-door ministry, joyfully teaching others about Jehovah God. (Psalm 83:18) He also witnessed to others by the way he lived his life.
The qualities that especially endeared Otha to others were his love, his humility, his kind Christian personality, and his complete faith and trust in Jehovah.
Otha loved his family. He was personally able to persuade his family and many others to accept Bible truth and progress to Christian dedication and baptism.
During his theocratic career, Otha was privileged to participate in many aspects of service in Jehovah’s organization. He loved learning and teaching others about the Bible. This love moved him to learn other languages, including ASL and Spanish, to advance the Kingdom message.
Otha leaves to cherish his memory: His aunts: Creola Francis, Los Angeles, CA; Alice Faye (Moby) Dixon, Houston, TX; His sisters: Rose Mary Miller, Bakersfield, CA; Sandra (Eddie) Rueda, El Sobrante, CA; His brothers: Harry J. (Patrees A.) Daigle, Jr., Luling, TX; Samuel L. (Charmane) Daigle, Long Beach, CA; His sons: Otha Brandon (Cammillia) Roberts; Stephen (Maria) Roberts; His daughters: Cynthia (Rayshon) Battee; Jennifer Roberts-Wilhite (Channing); His grandchildren: Jazzmyn, Jordan, Rayshon, Daniel, Ivan, Carlo and Shawn; His cousins: Reggie, Linda, Lester, Tonya, Cassandra, Renaldo, Wayne, Ricky, Stephanie, and Stephen.
Otha was preceded in death by his father Otha Roberts, Sr., his mother Florene Martin Armstrong and sister Martha Louise Lundy. While those who love him mourn his passing, we find comfort in the Bible’s promise regarding friends of God. Job noted: “You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.” (Job 14:15) Yes, Jehovah eagerly anticipates the time when our dear father, brother, and friend returns to life in the resurrection.
Job 14:14, 15 “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long*for the work of your hands.”

On behalf of our family, we want to express thanks to all of those who have provided consolation by what you have said in person, sympathy card, e-mail, text message, or letter. Your words and actions have brought a measure of comfort. We look forward to the time
when words will fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father return our father, brother and friend to us.
