Not sure what to say?

Mr. Otis McCain was my very favorite teacher in high school. I was lucky to have him for biology and physiology. He was always excited to share his knowledge of science and had a magical way of making the classroom come alive with enthusiasm ! I couldn´t wait to get to his classroom. He always had a smile to share and a wonderful sense of humor. My condolences to his family. Suzanne (Guy) Bolyard MHS `66

Just wanted to add that I too benefited from Mr. McCain´s wonderful teaching ability at Miramonte in the early 1970s. It was such a joy to be a part of his classes. I took physiology and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was always so upbeat and positive and it was a real pleasure to be taught by him. I never forgot his spirit. My best to all of the family members and our deepest sympathies at your loss. Bill Waterman MHS Class of `72

My wife (married 53 years) Gayle Patton and I met in Norma´s typing class. It was the year Otis and Norma were married. Otis was our physiology teacher. We both have had long careers in healthcare due in part as a result of Otis making science so interesting. When we saw the movie "Mr. Holland´s Opus" it brought back memories of Otis McCain and I always wondered if he realized how many young lived he touched in such a positive way. We live in New Mexico and will not be able to attend but...

It is very likely Otis McCain saved my life, as he likely did for so many of his students. He leaned in a bit during a terrible time for me, pushing me to learn but allowing me space to grieve. My father had just died, and he helped me navigate a very difficult semester. I am also fairly sure I did not deserve a B in physiology! What a lovely and amazing human being. He never seemed to forget me, either, recognizing me at pools and stores and during parent teacher conferences when my son...

Mr MCain was among my favorite teachers in life. His physiology class was wonderful amd his inspiration and enthusiasm in that class is likely the reason I pursued nursing and medicine as a career. He was a wonderful amazin teacher. So sorry for your loss and know he touched so many in Orinda ! I remember babysitting for his kids as well !!

One of the most beloved teachers Miramonte ever had. He touched so many lives, including mine. My Condolences to all of his family and close friends.

Coach McCain Made baseball fun and having to "Take a lap" wasn't too bad when so ordered......

Mr. McCain was my favorite teacher from grade K-12!

Mr. McCain...You were a remarkable classroom communicator. I was so fortunate to have you as a teacher my junior and senior years at Miramonte, 1965-1966. RIP. Ron Maita Class of '66.
