Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Oton G. Moreno, 82, of Las Cruces entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, January 20, 2017 at his daughter Patricia's home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1934 in Smeltertown, TX to Antonio O. and Rita Gonzales Moreno. Oton served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post #3242 and the American Legion Post #10. He retired from White Sands Missile Range as an Electrical Engineer and was also the Team Leader of the Research and Development of Missile and Laser Acquisition and Testing. Mr. Moreno was also a member of the Senior Olympics and participated in basketball, volleyball and bowling and was awarded 1st place in State and 3rd place in Regional. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Those left to mourn his passing include two sons, Oton Moreno Jr. (Audrey) of Las Cruces, and Benjamin Moreno of Flagstaff, AZ; four daughters, Sylvia Ann Guzman, Patricia Ann Rodriguez (Alfonso), Lillian Moreno all of Las Cruces, and Rachel Veed of Colorado; two brothers, Antonio Moreno of Sierra Vista, AZ and Jose Moreno of Las Cruces; two sisters, Nellie Ordaz of Casa Grande, AZ, and Natividad May of Las Cruces. Other survivors include twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Anthony Moreno; two sisters, Emma Saiz and Rosalia Trumble.

Visitation for Mr. Moreno will begin at 6 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, January 27, 2017 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda with Monsignor John E. Anderson officiating. Private burial services will be held at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with military honors accorded

Serving as casket bearers will be Eli Guzman, Antonio, Jared and Oton Moreno Jr., Anthony and Armando Rios. Honorary bearers will be Benjamin Jr., and Justin Moreno, Isidro and Gustavo Veed, Noel and Mario Garcia, Steven, David and Robert Guzman III.

My most sincere sympathies to you all. Oton always treated me with mutual respect and I thought highly of him.

May the Man of Sorrows, our Lord Jesus Christ, console and comfort your hearts during this difficult time.

Oton was a class act Played bb with him for many years. He played into his 70s Used to bring us burritos at the gym. He was always upbeat, generous, friendly. smart and an overall kind human being. Saw him in sept. Rest in peace and soar with the angels. My condolences to his family.

My condolences to the Moreno family. I remember him as "Choges", from Hurley high in 1954, great basket ball player, very down to earth person and always friendly.
