My name is Joshua. Though a follower of Christ, I spent an early portion of time as a recovering addict at the Frederick (MD) Rescue Mission. At that period in the mission's history, '05-'08, a visitor was scheduled once a week to spend an evening class with the residents. There is none I didn't appreciate, but none I can say God spoke to me through like Otto. I never stopped taking notes. In life we have friends, loved ones, mentors, and even a few "heroes." Otto was a "hero" to me; a great man of God!

My wife Mary and I were saddened at the loss of our dear friend Otto. We were very close to Otto and Lil for most of the past 40 years. However, we believe that our loss is heaven's gain and that we will see them both once again. On many occasions, Otto thanked Mary for giving him a copy of A.W. Tozer's classic book The Pursuit of God, which gave him a new appreciation for God's holiness. He then found Tozer's Knowledge of the Holy, to reinforce this even more. I cherish the memories of the many times I visited Otto while he was in Tranquility. I am sad, and will miss him, but I rejoice that he is safe in the arms of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
