Not sure what to say?

Dear Pat,
I was so sorry to learn of your loss when I read Alice's MM today. Otto had that special quality of including everyone no matter what the situation. He was a great guide on an ELI trip that you both led that took us thru southern Minnesota a few years ago. He will be missed by many. Harriet Betzold, OLI member from Golden Valley

Dearest Pat,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Otto. He was a very special person and we loved him very much. We are are very sorry we could not attend his Memorial because we are both having some health issues since we returned from Florida this year. Hope to be able to get together with you soon Love and Prayers from
Dick & Bev. Hoium
A memorial donation has been sent to Health Partners Hospice of the Lakes

Otto’s exuberance for life was inspiring to all those around him. Otto (Toot, Otto inside out) will be missed very much! We worked and played together for several years. His sense of humor and impish grin would help make difficult situations much easier. He loved natural places, and enjoyed every minute he spent hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing.

I remember a time when four of us were staying in a rustic log cabin in what was later part of Tettegouche State Park. It was...

Otto exhibited such courage and tenacity throughout this long journey. We were all taught about the value of life and living. For those of us that were a part of Otto's struggles with MSA, I think I can say that we will never forget Otto's sense of humor and seeming unwillingness to accept defeat.
He was blessed by so many friends who visited him frequently until the very end. I would jut like to say a special thanks to my brother, Glenn, for his loving dedication he showed in caring for...

Pat, I'm very glad to have met Otto and traveled with you two and the others to Nagasaki in 1995. He left a legacy there with the very active square dancing club. It grows in size each year. I remember the 1995 trip vividly. The schools, Junshin, Chitosepia Hall, the party afterward when Otto had all the Japanese orchestra members line dancing. I thought that old building was going to fall down. We were on the fourth floor!

You and Otto consoled me when Karen died almost 7 years...

Otto started a square dance club in Nagasaki, Japan and it continues today! There are many people who will miss Otto both here and abroad.
Elizabeth Simmer, SPNSCC
