WILSON, Page, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at his home in Mechanicsville, Va. Page was an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter, and the host of his locally produced "Out o' the Blue Radio Revue" which could be heard every Saturday night on WCVE radio. The son of the late Vannie and Laura Lee Wilson, he is survived by one daughter, Virginia Blue Wilson; a sister, Laurann Whetham and her husband, Don; two brothers, Paul Wilson and his wife, Patty, and Stephen Wilson and his fianc‚e, Deina Lowery; nine nieces and nephews. He also leaves many close friends, fellow musicians, and fans. As a young man, Page hitchhiked to Texas and Idaho, spent time in Nashville and Key West, but decided Richmond, especially the Chickahominy Swamp, was the place he loved best. Besides the radio show, Page staged several performances with the Richmond Symphony, featuring local bands and singers. One of his greatest pleasures was helping at local charity events, often donating his time as emcee, and occasionally donating his hair. Before health problems forced him to quit playing the guitar, Page and his band, "Reckless Abandon," could be heard most weekends, playing "Virginia" or "Swim Nekkid" or any of the other songs he wrote. His family will miss his warm smile, the twinkle in his eye, and the many dog stories he had to tell. Donations may be made to the Virginia Blue College Fund, and mailed to 8167 Vaughan Dr., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Not sure what to say?

He was my friend.

Was just thinking about him and how I liked his show. I made it a point to listen to him when he was on.
Doesn't seem like he's been gone this long.

I just came across Page's obituary when my hustsnd I were reminiscing about the show. I struggled s bit to recall Page's last name, but searched online and his name, the name of the show, his band and so much more came back in our memories. On another page, I found where some of his recorded shows are preserved. I'll have to go back to listen to more. I especially loved hearing the theme song, "Virginia" again . I wish i had known of Page sooner as i enjoyed the show after my husband...

I was a founding member of the original "Reckless Abandon" in Key West FL. Page replaced one of our members temporarily. I have picked with Page at half the joints in South Florida. Although I lost touch over the years, I remember Page very fondly. I have some stories to tell, if any of his family would like to hear them. Most are kind of funny. Page was one of a kind. We were both at Union Grove NC in '77. We were actually roommates briefly in Key West. I was very saddened to hear of his...

Hard to believe that it's been 8 years, Page!! I think of you often and remember the good times we shared and the music you left behind for all!!! Love and miss you always----Ramble on!!!

Mr. Page sang "Amazing Grace" at my uncle's funeral in 1998. It was beautiful. I've seen his band live many times. Rest in peace my good man.

My deepest sympathy to Page Wilson's family and bandmates. He was an old friend of my brother, Harold (Bubba) Friedhoff, who was deeply saddened to hear of Page' sudden death. We enjoy Page's music and my 5 year old granddaughter loves to sing "Swim Nekkid". I know he will be greatly missed. May God bless you all.
