DOUGLAS, Palmer Caton, died Monday February 8, 2010. Palmer is survived by his wife, Anne Murphy Douglas; and their son, Blake Woodson Douglas. Palmer was a graduate of St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H. and Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. He and his family have lived in Richmond for 14 years. He was a member of the Commonwealth Club, the Westwood Club, the Adirondack League Club in Old Forge, New York and the Coral Beach Club in Bermuda. Palmer is also survived by his father and stepmother, James A.M. and Gail Douglas of Bedford, N.Y.; and by his wife's parents, Helen and Tayloe Murphy of Mount Holly, Virginia. Palmer's mother, Florence Palmer Douglas, passed away in 1985. He is survived as well by one brother and three sisters. His brother, J. Alexander M. Douglas Jr. and his wife, Dabney Watts Douglas live with their four children, Stirling, Miller, Watts and Nelson, in Atlanta, Ga. His older sister, Evelyn Douglas lives in Harding Township, N.J. with her husband, Peter Saulnier and three children, William, Emily and Mattie. Palmer's twin sister, Constance Douglas and her husband, Christopher Arnold live in Tarrytown, N.Y. with their three children, Florence, Eleanor and Christopher. His stepsister, Christie Densen Root and her husband, Ted Root live in Baltimore, Md. with their three children, TJ, Emma and Maggie. Palmer is also survived by many, many dear friends, both close by and far away. Palmer's spirit of caring, love for his family and friends and contagious laughter will remain with all of us. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 12 at Yeocomico Episcopal Church, 1233 Old Yeocomico Road, Kinsale, Va. 22488. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul's School, 325 Pleasant St., Concord, N.H. 03301 in memory of Palmer Douglas.

For the family of Palmer, I just heard the sad news from Clay who keeps our class informed of eachothers doings. I can honestly say Palmer was my first BEST FRIEND. I clearly remember his slight build and straight black hair. We were inseparable in third grade trading basesball cards when we shouldnt have in school and having them taken away from us by the teachers only to be luckily returned at the end of the day.
