Pamela J. Aaron, 72


Pamela J. Aaron, 72, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home.


She was born April 1, 1951, in Distant, PA, a daughter of the late Lucy M. (Henderson) and Blair M. Ortz.


On April 8, 1972, she married William “Doug” Aaron, who survives.


Pam was a 1969 graduate of Redbank Valley High School.  She loved to quilt and do hand quilting.  She served as the neighborhood seamstress, was willing to make food for any occasion and was well known for her specialties of potato salad, gobs, and homemade apple butter.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking and baking, and was always willing to help out or lend a hand to anyone in need no matter the circumstances.


In addition to her husband Doug, surviving relatives include two children, daughter Janie L. Strawcutter and husband Robert of Punxsutawney and son Scott Aaron and wife Darlene of Dubois; six grandchildren, Brittany Frye and husband Cullen, Derek Brown, Hunter Aaron, Jake Frank and wife Alexis, Jessica Frank, and Emily Frank; six great-grandchildren; and four siblings, brother Tom Ortz of Distant, sister Della Young of Distant, brother Tim Ortz and wife Michelle of New Bethlehem and sister Anita Dougan and husband John of Kittanning.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant twin sons Tad and Todd Aaron.


Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.


A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Bach officiating.


Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Distant.


Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Aaron, to the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, 301 East Mahoning Street, Unit 4, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

I just found out I lost you today. My heart goes out to Doug and family. We shared so much and always had fun together. You will be missed by so many. Sending my love and hugs to your family and friends.
