GRAY, Pamela Burnside, of Richmond, formerly of Waverly, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Hon. and Mrs. Basil Burnside of Nassau, Bahamas. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Elmon T. Gray; daughter, Katharine T. Gray of Richmond; son, Garland Gray II and wife, Ann, of Williamsburg; son, Bruce B. Gray of Richmond; sister, Margaret B. Kapner of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and cousin, Susan Burnside of Nassau, Bahamas. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Pamela H. Minkler and husband, Michael, Charles C. Herbert III and wife, Diana, Martha L. Gray, Garland Gray III and E. Taylor Gray II; and one great-grandson, Mason R. Minkler. Mrs. Gray graduated from Stuart Hall School and Westhampton College. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Waverly and Merchant's Hope Church, Prince George and served on the Altar Guilds of both. She served on the boards of Stuart Hall School, Jackson-Feild Homes for Girls, Walter Cecil Rawls Library, and the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. The family would like to thank Ann Igou and the wonderful caregivers from Mature Options (Alba, Aleatha, Arvla, Cheryl and Cindy). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stuart Hall School, P. O. Box 210, Staunton, Va. 24402, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Burial will be private.
