Pamela Watson-Palace was born April 22, 1945 in Detroit where she grew up with three loving siblings and was briefly married and had her son. Pamela passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025. Although she struggled as a young parent through the help of friends, she went back to school and became a proud Wayne State University graduate in art history, getting her bachelor’s degree, and completing master’s graduate studies. She was a dedicated employee at the Detroit Institute of Arts rising from the ranks of intern to finally becoming the head registrar for the collection at the museum. During her professional career she was dedicated to the preservation of art and mentoring many young professionals in museum administration. After being single for most of her adult life, she was reunited through the help of friends with her old high school love Paul, and they were married having a wonderful 21 years of marriage. The two of them brought their families together into a new blended family who grew in love while Pam and Paul watched their grandchildren grow. Pam throughout her life was very grateful for the help that she had and did everything that she could to share that gratitude with anyone who needed help often in volunteering at her church for community organizations and in helping those in need. She also loved to cook and share joy and build memories through various holidays throughout the year her favorite by far being St. Patrick’s Day and her famous corned beef and Irish soda bread. She tried to maintain good health and benefited from amazing care throughout her life from Henry Ford Health and later from the compassionate and skilled staff at Canterbury on the Lake memory care. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, her son, Dr. Peter (Dr. Alice Watson MD) Watson MD and three stepchildren, Tanya (Robert) Winford, Paul (Jennifer) Palace and Michael Palace and six grandchildren, Dane Hayes, Jensen (Adam) DiGiacomo, Joey Watson, Tommy Watson, George Watson, and Lucia Palace. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Mary) Watson. Preceded in death by her sisters, Paula Wood and Stephanie Caravagio. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion, and we will all miss her.
