Pat Strayer

We were so fortunate to have her in our childhoods, in our neighborhood, our mothers in her Granny Gang.

Dear Aunt Pat . . . I so regret that we lived miles away from each other, so that I only got to visit you a few times over the years. But those few times hold very fond memories for me. May your final resting place have Band-Aids with stars on them.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mrs. Strayer's passing. I was a student at San Marcos in the early 70's enduring scarring abuse at home. I credit her amazing ability to identify the signs of abuse and prompt intervention that gave me the tools to survive. Not only survive- but to go on and be a mother, a wife and a molecular biologist. When I was awarded my graduate degree at ASU I held up my diploma and thanked Mrs. Strayer for always believing in me. She provided me with a chance... ...

I worked as a nurse with Pat Strayer while I was getting my school nurse certificate. She was so helpful. We were friends forever after.

My deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. Pat was a source of great comfort during difficult times when I was a student at San Marcos High School. God bless her sweet soul.

It is hard for us to think of the Unitarian Society without Pat being there. She was such a strong but quiet and steady presence for many of our years there. Thanks for being there, Pat.
