Patricia (Pat)  Penry Adams, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home and from this life to her eternal home on February 22, 2021.  Pat was born September 29, 1935 in Luling, TX.  She graduated from Southpark High School and received her degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX.  She was a Librarian at Alamo Junior High and then moved to Abel Junior High where she helped set up the Library for the new school.

She was a member of Beta PI Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota since 1969, Delta Kappa Gamma, Midland Society of University Women, MSU Bridge Club and an active member of First Baptist Church.  Pat volunteered at the Scabrorough-Lineberry House and was involved with the Storybook Christmas Program that provided all first graders in Midland County with a new book at Christmas time.  Pat had many hobbies.  She loved to play tennis, play bridge and going to the Theaters and involved with Summer Mummers at Midland Community Theatre as a Golden Girl.

Pat is survived by her daughters, Gina Foust, Grand Junction, CO; Lara Martin, Midland, TX; Grandson’s Payton Martin, Victoria, TX; Joshua Schweigart, Denver, CO; and granddaughter Alexandra Foust, Richards, TX.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Aaron Penry, her sisters Vaughna Beth Sherman, Josephine Martin, and a brother Buddy Penry.  She was loved by many friends.  We want to thank Hospice for the good care they gave our Mother when she was at home.

Memorial service will be held on March 8, 2021 @ 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church under the direction of Lewallen Garcia Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, Pat’s family requests memorial donations to be given to Delta Kappa Gamma for Storybook Christmas in Midland,  P O Box 358, Ft. Not sure what to say?

Pat was a joy to know. I met her when I joined the Golden Girls at Summer Mummers. She had been dancing with them for some time. We spent many years dancing together at Summer Mummers and had many good times. She was always laughing and just being a friend to all. My sympathy to her family.

I worked with Pat for six years at Abel Jr. High. She was a good friend and great to work with. My sympathy goes to the family and friends. God bless all of you.

Pat was a lovely person who succeeded in many things. As a fellow librarian and sorority sister, I always looked to Pat for guidance and fellowship. She was a unique individual!

Pat was a great friend who cared greatly about children learning to read and have the opportunity to learn. She was always ready to open her home to her Sunday School class and help others. She will be greatly missed.
