Feerick Funeral Home - Shorewood Obituary

Patricia McKillop Ash of Fox Point (WI), formerly of Whitefish Bay (WI) and Woburn (MA), entered the fullness of Eternal Life in the early hours of Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at the age of 84.

Beloved wife of Michael, proud mother of Brian (Darlene) Ash, Alexandria, Virginia, and James (Rachel Klein) Ash, Milton, Massachusetts, and adoring Nana of Perrin, Ellyson (Elly), and Bennett.  She is also survived by her dear siblings and their respective families, Daniel (Buster) McKillop, Janet Capone, Mary Ellen Vadney, and Barbara (Bibsie) Sullivan, all of Massachusetts.

Patricia graduated from St Charles High School in Woburn, MA in 1957, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Emmanuel College as well as a Master’s Degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.  She was a lifelong, passionate educator, teaching at Marquette University High School and Bader Hillel Academy, as well as spending nearly 40 years teaching Physics and Math at her beloved Dominican High School (Whitefish Bay, WI).  Throughout her career, Patricia was a dedicated private tutor on evenings, weekends, and summers, a role she cherished and continued long after retiring from full-time teaching.  She consistently maintained that hard work and education were central to a happy and fulfilling life.

Throughout her life, Patricia used her endless energy to trace her family history (The McKillops) back to its origins in Scotland and learn how they traveled through Nova Scotia and eventually settled in the Boston area.  She regularly went “home” to Boston, spending time with her siblings, nieces, and nephews, touring around downtown Boston, and visiting the rocks and beaches of Gloucester and Cape Ann.  She took pride in her yard and spent many hours gardening, happily showing anyone her plants, flowers, and beautiful rose bushes.  She loved and cared deeply for her many cats over the years and enjoyed reading mysteries, watching PBS shows and documentaries, and doing crossword puzzles.  She was the planner, organizer, and doer of her family, and took great care of those around her.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to and highest praise for the people of Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, Home Helpers Health Care of Greater Milwaukee, Oasis Senior Advisors, Azura Memory Care of Fox Point, Aurora Health Center of Whitefish Bay, and in particular Patricia’s neighbors who provided ongoing care and support during her later years.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Eugene Catholic Church (7600 N. Port Washington Rd., Fox Point) beginning at 10:00 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  A private inurnment will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Calvary Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Patricia’s name may be directed to the Dominican High School Scholarship Fund (120 E. Silver Spring Dr., Whitefish Bay, WI 53217), or the Wisconsin Humane Society (4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208).

Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Ash. As a former Bay neighbor on Lydell and the amazing mom of my good friend Brian (and James), I remember her as being very kind, inquisitive and wise. Brian and James, just know that losing your mom and adjusting to a new normal without her is a lifelong journey. Give yourself permission to grieve and go forward without any preconceived expectations.

You will be in my prayers, and yet I am certain that you will have much to celebrate as...

When God handed out talents, he filled Patricia's basket to overflowing. She used them all with great skill and generosity! A thought for Brian and James: May you know in your hearts that the gifts your mother gave you are yours forever.

Patricia was the most dedicated and professional teacher I ever knew. She was a mentor to many, including me. Her excellence was the hallmark of the Dominican science department but her care and love for everyone was even more important. The world will miss her and so will I.

One of my favorite teachers . Prayers and hugs

Mrs. Ash was my physics teacher at Dominican. She was sharp, energetic, kind and had a natural ability to make the principals of physics understandable. I have her to thank for my lifelong love of science. Rest in peace.

Worked with Pat for many years on the third floor of Dominican High School. She was smart, kind and always there when you needed her. Her devotion to the students and to the welfare of Dominican was always unending. I will miss that smile and ever so present positive attitude in life. Great example to all of us. She will always be missed.

Patricia and Mike were neighbors on Lydell Ave in Whitefish Bay where their children and ours grew up and played together for many years. They were great neighbors and dear friends.

She is the only person that has ever made me feel guilty about not having taken a Physics class in college.

So sorry to learn of the passing of my cousin. She certainly loved her family and education. From very early years ago she truly believed that man would go to the moon. Her science background and math had convinced her of that long before our space program began. What a creative and intelligent young woman she was then. She helped so many of her students succeed. May she now rest in peace and know she lived a very giving life. Kathy McKillop
