Patricia Ruth Bertrand, 85 of Brick, NJ passed away suddenly on April 26, 2016 at her home. She was born on April 5, 1931 to Henry and Eda Mader and grew up in Point Pleasant. She then moved to Brick in 1953 after marrying her high school sweetheart, Donald Bertrand. Over the years Patricia was an active member of the Breton Woods Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, The Brick Junior Sports League, The Women’s Club of Brick Township, The Red Hat Society, and The Point Pleasant Beach High School reunion committee. She also actively supported her husband when he started his business in 1958, and through its early years. The business developed into what is now known as Brick Township Heating & Air Conditioning Co. She took great pride in her garden, spending countless hours tending to her flowers and shrubs. Watching her four grandsons grow up was the highpoint of her later life, whether it was traveling to their endless hockey games, baseball games or just being poolside with them at her home. Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Donald Bertrand, her daughter Sandra Purwin and husband John, her daughter Patrice Law and husband Craig, her grandsons Michael Purwin and wife Jennifer, Christopher Law, Timothy Purwin, Jeffrey Law and wife Shannon. Her family would like to invite her friends to celebrate Patricia’s life with them on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Rd., Brick, NJ 08723. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016, 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
