I was especially saddened to hear of Mrs. Crains passing for it brings an end to my ties with South Norfolk. I believe everyone there knew her for one reason or the other, her kids, grandkids, bingo, through Mr. Crains affiliation with sports. Some of the best memories of my childhood are at the Crain house with Mrs. Crain. She was so giving and funny. I loved her like a Mom and she treated me like one of her children. There are so many stories and memories. I think of her every year when The Jerry Lewis Telethon comes on and wonder if she is watching it and crying. I also remember her laugh. It would fill a room. Mrs. Crain, or Momma as I called her, was one of a kind. She loved and took care of so many. She always had a spot for me at Thanksgiving, Christmas and any time I wanted to be there. I loved her very much. Even though I have moved away, I still looked at that house on Rogers St. every time I passed and could recall a different memory every time.
