April 18, 1943 - July 2, 2020 Our mom, Patti, has been obsessed with chocolate these last few months. We mean Willy Wonka river-of-chocolate-into-her-mouth-everyday type of mania. So, her claim that she "doesn't like sweets" was essentially a 77 year old line of BS, but she often holds her cards...

Thank you for posting this! Patti was a wonderful neighbor and friend! Loved reading about her remarkable life! So glad I was able to visit her this year!❤would love to have joined in a celebration of her life! John and I send our deepest condolences to Paul, Andrew & Maggie!

An amazing woman ... I will miss her. My thoughts, love and prayers to her family ..

I've been a professional writer for nearly 50 years...even got an Emmy nomination for writing and producing the True Hollywood Story biography series for E! Network...and I have NEVER been more moved by the life story of someone I never met! Margaret, you are an INCREDIBLE writer and the obit for your mom moved me to tears on multiple occasions as I read every word...what an amazing tribute! Of course, you were obviously fortunate to have such a spectacular Mom, but SHE was lucky to have such...

so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I was one of her history students in jr high at Milliken and was a teachers aide for her. When your parents were dating They used me to pass notes to each othet( they were stapled so I couldnt read them) and I would deliver them. Many years later I recognized her name at a DAR event and we got reaquainted

An artist could not have painted a more perfect picture of Patti. She was a bright light in our chapter of the DAR and while I only knew her from our organization I will never forget her hats or her singing of patriotic songs. My condolences and love to your family.

It comes as a shock that Patti is gone, she definitely illuminated our chapter of the DAR. While I only knew her from our organization you weaved a stellar story about her life and the impact she had on those around her. It was nothing short of remarkable and I will never forget her hats or singing. My condolences and love to your family, may these wonderful memories comfort you all.

Patricia, You obviously raised and inspired one great writer with a wonderful eye for detail. I hope you know a bunch of LA Times journalists have been sharing this story of your life and wishing that every obituary were as thoughtful and well written.

Such a remarkable tribute to your Mom, Maggie! We learned so much about her and your loving family story. So very sorry for your loss in such a challenging time.

Patti was a good friend when I began my teaching career at Millikan Junior High in 1972. I used to carpool with her husband, Paul, and another teacher, Bob Hayes. Patti was always the life of the party and was the consummate hostess. She loved her family ferociously. Even though we lost track of one another, I always remember the Danielle family with great fondness. My condolences, dear Paul, Andrew, and Margaret. I know this is a tremendous loss.
