Patricia Strolis Dobbins, R.N. Dearest wife and mother, had career as registered nurse, 62 Patricia A. Dobbins (nee Strolis), 62, formerly of Berkeley Township, N.J., and the Lake Shawnee section of Jefferson Township, N.J., passed away on Oct. 8, 2015. Visitation will take place on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Growney Funeral Home, 1070 N. Broad St., Hillside, N.J., www.growneyfuneral.com. The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church in Hillside at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, followed by a cremation at Rosehill Crematory in Linden, N.J. Born and raised in Bayonne, N.J., Pat completed Christ Hospital School of Nursing with several awards. She worked as a medical surgical nurse and after moving to Lake Hopatcong, she was employed in various settings, including agency nursing, Morris View Healthcare Center and Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital. At Greystone, Pat enjoyed the role of health educator, working with patients to learn about their medications and interpersonal skills. She received national awards for her approach to patient education in self-medication skills. Pat delighted in boating, biking, yoga, dogs, nature and spirituality. She was a friendly, attentive person with a great sense of humor. Pat was blessed with two wonderful sons who attended to her faithfully after her diagnosis and the subsequent challenges of multiple sclerosis. Pat's quiet kindness and spiritual faith were her greatest strengths. As MS progressively robbed her of her abilities to move and speak clearly, she remained serene and complained little, even joking often. For the past 18 months, Pat resided at Morris View Health Care, where she passed away. She was always appreciative of the diligent people who cared for her many needs. Pat is survived by her husband, William Dobbins. She was the devoted mother of Vincent and his wife, Brett Dobbins, and Kevin Dobbins; dear sister of Alfred Strolis and Susan Strolis and her lifetime partner, Kelly Galloway; and sister-in-law of Anita Phalon. She is also survived by her Aunt Mary, two nephews and one niece.

Not sure what to say?

Another year, another time missed having Pat as a friend. We can only look forward to the pictures and images. We miss you Pat! Paula & Tony

I miss her still. I miss the laughs and fun we had. I think of her a lot. It is still hard to believe she's no longer with us. I feel for Bill and the boys. Life is a strange thing. You never know what you will face as you live. Still sad. But, life goes on, and the memories still hold themselves. That's a good thing.

She was a wonderful friend and confidant. I think of her every day. We lost her way too young. Her affliction was devastating. Love to her family, an immeasurable loss for them all, I can only imagine how much they miss her.

The way we were back then...

I will always remember the good times that I had with Pat, our walks, our discussions on all kinds of things, the laughs we had at the expense of everyone we knew. When Pat was going to go out on maternity leave, we got her a cake that said "Happy Birthing Day"...it took a while to get that play on words straight at the bakery. I remember the times we camped together when Vincent was little riding on his Hot Wheels trike zooming all around the camping area, and Kevin was in diapers, howling...

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
