To My mother, Patricia Foran: Your faith in me inspired me to be much more than I had planned, had you not trusted me. Just knowing you expected courage from me in life helped me to stand my ground when others run from strife. Your prayers for my success and faith that I would arrive put me in debt to you as long as I'm alive. I often say, whether I lose or win, your faith pulled up my average from what I might have been. Dearest Mother, Even when I ignore the Patricia Foran "shrine" in my living room, I still think and dream of you regularly. Through the years, you filled my heart with special memories and moments that remind me of how precious you were to me. You were (and still are) an inspiration to me: generous, loving, protective, forever nurturing, profoundly literate, steadfast, intrepid, amazingly resilient in the face of physical and emotional vicissitudes, as well as artistically and musically...

She looked so happy and loving in this photo in April 2020, at age 90, holding the "goat doll" I gave her. The photo was taken by my sister Diana.

Patricia Foran was a gift to all who knew her. Her family is a testament to her endless love, clear guidance, and sparkling wit. How grateful I am to have known her. Rest in peace, beloved muthe.
