Chicopee- Patricia M. (Lafley) Griffin, wife of the late Thomas E. Griffin, passed away at home on June 21, 2022, surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Dunne) Lafley, Patricia was born in Springfield on June 3, 1942. She grew up in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. She proudly worked as a medical transcriptionist at the Shriners Hospital for Children before her retirement in 2009, after 30 years. Pat and Tom were married for over 50 years, before his passing earlier this year. She is survived by her only daughter, her biggest fan, Alison Griffin and her fiancé, Shawn Barber, who took such good care of his Patty G. She leaves her beloved brother Richard ‘Dick’ Lafley, who made her smile, like no other. She was predeceased by her brother Jimmy Lafley, who lived on through her recounting of his shenanigans. She also leaves behind her best friend, of over 50 years, Susan Jubinville, her childhood friend Mary Ellen, countless friends from her youth, the Shriners, the neighborhood, her time at Baystate, her much loved nieces and nephews, and her loyal shorkie, Maggie May. Pat, Patty, Sally, or Patsy, as her friends and family from Sterling St loving called her, was a beautiful soul with an unmatched wit, a good friend, loving mother, and loyal sister. She was a lover of all things animals and loved nothing more than surrounding herself with her furry friends. She was selfless and giving and put the needs of her family and friends above everything else. Those lucky enough to know her, loved her, and there is no question that she will be missed. A funeral service for Patricia will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 12:00. Committal services will be held privately at the family's convenience.
