Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C. - Lemont Obituary

On St. Pat’s Day 2025, our adored Patricia Jungles (nee Nagel) was delivered from her pain, surrounded by the warmth of her family. While her peaceful passing comes with gratitude, Pat’s unforgettable smile and giving heart will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A proud and lifelong resident of Lemont IL and LHS Alum & Senior Superlative, Pat was commonly known throughout the community for her comedic nature and boundless devotion to her grandchildren. Her laughter and helping hand were such that it was not uncommon for Pat to gain new family members through her community, many who also endearingly referred to Pat as grandma or mom.

Pat was a shamelessly devoted Chicago sports fan. After an extraordinarily long wait, in 2016 she was finally gifted a Cubs Championship, yet she continued to be disappointed by her Bears since 1986. Nevertheless, her faith in her two favorite sports teams was never ending and we feel certain she will be cheering on her beloved Cubbies from the beautiful skies above.

Pat is survived by her adoring husband, Richard ‘Byrd’ Jungles, their six children, and a small army of grandchildren and great grandchildren who are more commonly recognized as Grandma’s Treasures. Truly, blessings abound and the fulfillment of Pat’s life on Earth.

Beloved mother of Tamara (Dave) Selig, Todd (Laura) Larkins, Jodi (Frank) Richert, Michelle Jungles-Moranda, Scott Jungles, and Jamie Jungles. Also among her survivors are her loving Mother-In-Law, Esther Jungles, devoted Sisters-In-Law, Carolyn Carlson and Maureen Nagel, as well as many, many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, grand- and great-grandnieces/nephews.

Pat’s passing is preceded by that of her parents, Arthur and Stella Nagel (nee Sucharski), and siblings, Ronald Nagel, Mary Ann Sahs, and Kenneth Nagel.

Pat’s love for her grandchildren was immeasurable and is eternal. Any of her grandchildren will share countless fond and entertaining memories. Pat & Byrd’s own children are – to this day – learning of yet another “Grandparent’s Rule,” the unwritten rulebook by which only Gma, Pa and their precious grandkids played.

Also everlasting is the love and devotion of Pat’s husband and life partner of nearly a half century. Byrd was Pat’s right hand who demonstrated infinite commitment and loyalty to the love of his life, feeling fortunate to have experienced life with her – up to and including sitting beside her as she quietly slipped into her eternal slumber.

Kindly join Pat’s family’s prayers for her eternal peace. We will always carry her memory in our hearts and are deeply blessed to have had her light in our lives.

Not sure what to say?

To the entire family, I would like to extend my sincerest condolences. I will always remember her as a no nonsense, yet loving mother. She always seemed to have your collective backs. My thoughts are with you all during this devastating time.

I'm deeply sorry for the entire family. While I never met Patricia, I do know that she did an outstanding job raising her daughter, who is my neighbor and good friend. It's no accident when good people become good people. Again, deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers for the entire family

Proud Gma memories.
