When I remember "Mrs. Mathews" I always smile. She was a grand light in the world. Wish her family well and I know you all miss her dearly.

I was very sad to learn this afternoon that Pat had passed away. While I only met her a handful of times, I've known her children and their spouses for over 30 years. I consider them all good friends and they are in our prayers. What a wonderful family, which Pat was clearly very proud of. Pat included me in a dinner at her home many years ago when I was in Portland on business. I still remember that evening. She was very gracious. This obituary is the most touching one I think I've...

She made me laugh, she made me feel loved, she spent nearly two years telling me to call her Pat, and not Mrs. Mathews (that was really hard!). I was incredibly blessed and fortunate to know Pat. She spoke directly from her heart. She had such resilience, and an amazing ability to make all those around her feel cared for. My heart, and prayers, are with the Mathews' and Kremer families as you grieve the loss of such a remarkable woman.

I was saddened to read Mrs. Matthews obituary this morning but also quietly smiled as I remembered her. She and George were good friends to my folks, Bas and Twila Jacobs. They shared good times together and with George's sudden passing, they were devastated. I also recall back in the mid-70's, Pat convinced me to coach Terry's softball team at Madeleine. Although I'd played softball (and if I remember correctly, Pat may have been one of my coaches), I had NO idea how to coach the sport. ...

When you witness the quality of relationships lived out by Pat's children, grandkids and great-grandkids, it speaks to what an amazing woman and matriarch she was. Quick with a smile, a handshake or hug, she was a ray of light every time we crossed paths. A life so well lived. I know the lessons she taught and the memories you have will sustain but such a loss. Prayers and Peace to you.
